Looking for an Olaplex treatment?
We’ll be upfront: we don’t use or offer Olaplex at Koukla. We’re a Kérastase salon, and for hair that feels dry, dull, frizzy or fragile we use Kérastase Chronologiste. The two are not the same thing, and this page explains the difference so you can work out what your hair needs.
What Olaplex does
Olaplex is a bond builder. Bleach, colour and heat break the disulphide bonds that hold hair together, and Olaplex’s patented ingredient, bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate, links broken bonds back up. Salons mix it into lightening services or apply it as a two-step treatment on its own.
What Kérastase Chronologiste does
Chronologiste is Kérastase’s revitalising range for the scalp and hair. It is built on hyaluronic acid for hydration, abyssine, and vitamin E as an antioxidant. Kérastase developed it for hair showing dryness, dullness, frizz and a loss of volume and thickness, and says it gives intense hydration, lasting frizz control, six times more shine and a stronger fibre.
The real difference between Olaplex and Chronologiste
Olaplex works on the bonds inside the hair. Chronologiste works on moisture, softness, shine and the condition of your scalp. If your hair is snapping after heavy bleaching, a bond builder is the specific tool for that job, and we’ll tell you so at your consultation. If your hair is dry, rough, dull or has lost its body, which is often what sends people looking for Olaplex in the first place, Chronologiste is the better fit.
- Olaplex: bond repair for chemically damaged hair. Not available at Koukla.
- Kérastase Chronologiste: hydration, shine, frizz control and scalp care. Available at Koukla.
- Frizz that needs more than conditioning: see hair botox, keratin or nanoplasty.
How we use Chronologiste at Koukla
We apply it in the salon as a treatment, on its own or alongside a cut or colour. Your stylist picks the products from the range that suit your hair and scalp, and tells you how often it’s worth repeating. It sits within our wider Kérastase treatment menu.
How much does it cost?
Our Kérastase treatments start from $20, and the full list is on our price list. We’ll quote your Chronologiste treatment at your free 15-minute consultation.
